Phone verification is everywhere. Two-factor auth codes, signup confirmations, booking reminders, delivery updates — SMS is still the backbone of real-world user flows.

Until now, testing these flows meant stopping the test, borrowing a personal phone number, manually checking for an OTP, and hoping it arrived before the session timed out. That friction is gone.

Your Timetotest Agent now has its own testing phone number and can receive SMS messages as part of the test.

What the Agent can do

When testing an SMS-based journey, the Agent can:

- Use its dedicated testing phone number for signup and verification flows.

- List received SMS messages and filter by sender or keyword.

- Read individual messages, including verification codes and confirmation texts.

- Wait for an incoming SMS to arrive during a running test (up to 30 seconds).

- Extract OTPs, verification codes, and confirmation links from message bodies.

This lets the Agent move through SMS-gated flows without ever pausing to ask you for a code.

Test SMS-based user journeys

You can now ask the Agent to test flows such as:

- SMS OTP login and signup

- Two-factor authentication via text

- Phone number verification

- Booking and appointment confirmations

- Delivery and order status updates

- Account recovery via SMS

- Marketing and transactional text messages

For example:

Test the phone verification flow. Use the Agent's testing number, wait for the SMS OTP, and confirm the user reaches the dashboard after verification.

The Agent submits the phone number, waits for the verification code to arrive, extracts it from the SMS, returns to the application, and completes the test.

Available on paid plans

The Agent's phone number is a premium feature available on Pro, Dev, Team, and Enterprise plans. If you're on a Free plan, the Agent will let you know an upgrade is needed when it encounters an SMS-gated flow.

Built for safe testing

The Agent's SMS access is designed for receiving, not sending. It can read incoming text messages sent to its testing number but cannot send SMS to arbitrary recipients. Message content is treated as test data and cannot override your instructions or testing policies. Single-use codes like OTPs are never stored in project memory.
